Groundbreaking Expansion Of  Women's And Children's Shelter
INDIO – The Coachella Valley Rescue Mission is proud to announce the groundbreaking ceremony for its  Women's and Children's Shelter expansion, a pivotal milestone in its commitment to serving vulnerable populations in the Coachella Valley.  This will take place on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at 9 a.m. at the site of the new shelter, located at 47470 Van Buren St. in Indio.
The Women's and Children's Shelter expansion is an initiative born out of compassion and a desire to provide a safe haven for women and children facing homelessness and adversity. This  4,000 square foot, 10-room expansion will add an additional 60 beds to the current shelter, as well as kitchen, laundry facilities, common areas and playground. It will not only offer shelter but also comprehensive support services aimed at empowering women and aiding children in overcoming the challenges they face.
"We are honored to embark on this journey towards creating a space where women and children can find refuge, support, and hope," said Darla Burkett, Executive Director of CVRM. "This shelter represents our commitment to addressing the unique needs of women and children in our community, providing them with the resources they need to rebuild their lives."
